Making her first start for trainer John Sadler since finishing third in the Grade III Wilshire Handicap April 28, favored Moone’s My Name led throughout to win the $63,600 feature Thursday at Betfair Hollywood Park.
The one-length victory by the 5-year-old gray daughter of Intikhab completed a quadruple for jockey Joel Rosario, who is in the midst of a brief stay in Southern California before he begins riding at Gulfstream Park.
It was the 11th four win day at Betfair Hollywood Park for Rosario, who will turn 29 Jan. 14.
The nation’s second leading jockey in 2013 – behind Javier Castellano – with purse earnings approaching $21 million, Rosario earned his Thursday wins for two trainers – Sadler and Peter Miller.
His other victory for Sadler came with favored Frandontjudge in the first while he won the fourth (Tosheen) and sixth (Papa Smitty) for Miller.
Owned by Batchelor Family Trust, Moone’s My Name, who had come from off the pace in her first two starts in the United States earlier this year, assumed command immediately, set 24.16, 48.06 and 1:11.63 fractions, opened up five lengths with an eighth of a mile remaining, then had enough left to contain Dancingtothestars and 9-5 second choice Gulsary.
Bred in Great Britain by Baroness Bloodstock and Tweenhills Stud, Moone’s My Name, who is out of the Petardia mare The Manx Touch, won for the seventh time in 20 starts. She’s earned $148,933.
In notching her first victory since Oct. 6, 2012 at Newmarket, Moone’s My Name ran the 1 1/16 miles on turf in 1:41.55. She paid $5.20, $3 and $2.10 as the 8-5 choice.
Stretching out again after trailing in the California Distaff Handicap Oct. 12 at Santa Anita, Dancingtothestars, an 8-1 shot, finished a head in front of Gulsary and returned $5.20 and $3. The show price on Gulsary was $2.20.
Hard to Resist and Lady Ten completed the order of finish. Rock and Glory was scratched.
Racing will resume Friday. Post time is 12:30 p.m. Track gates will open at 9:55 a.m. for simulcasts.
This will also be the meet’s fifth Fiesta Friday, featuring food and drink specials between 2-4 p.m. and Gold Club members can enter to win a $100 mutuel voucher.
