2013 Breeder's Cup Repeats?
Classic
Fort Larned is
coming into the Classic off a win in the Homecoming Stakes at
Churchill. He needed a good prep and he got one. Mucho Macho Man holds
the biggest threat as he won the Awesome Again Stakes at Santa Anita
which happens to be home to the Breeder's Cup again this year. He would
be my pick as we know he likes the surface last year he came a second by
a neck to Fort Larned in the Classic. Then you have Game On Dude who is
coming out of a romp in the TVG Pacific Classic at Del Mar. Ron the
Greek is a horse who comes through when a win is needed, don't count him
out he won the Jockey Club Gold Cup by daylight.
Filly & Mare Sprint
Groupie Doll hasn't
fired the way she used to do. She is coming into the race with a third
in the TCA at Keenland and the owners have to pay the entry fee for
that. Then you have Judy the Beauty coming off a win in the TCA and has
the entry fee paid off. You also have Cluster Of Stars, Book Review,
Dance to Bristol, and Executiveprivilege. My Pick would be Judy the
Beauty.
Distaff
The big mare Royal Delta
is going for a hat trick in the Distaff. Well, she lost her last race
(Beldame G1) to the three year old filly Princess Of Sylmar. If Ed
Stanco and Todd Pletcher decide to run Princess Of Sylmar I think that
she could beat Royal Delta. Now let's take a look at the west coast
runners. Another three year old filly by the name of Beholder could be
another threat to Royal Delta's chances. Beholder just won the Zenyatta
Stakes beating Authenticity and Joyful Victory (Retired). Beholder's
home track is Santa Anita. Santa Anita is the home of the Breeder's Cup
for 2013. If Royal Delta can get an easy lead she will be though don't
get me wrong but in her last start in the Beldame she was not fast
enough out of the gate to grasp the lead.
Mile
Wise Dan
is coming off a loss in the Shadwell Turf Mile. It was ran at a 1 1/16
(mile and one sixteenth) on the all weather. Silver Max at 4 year old
colt beat Wise Dan in the Shadwell, and is going to the Breeder's Cup
Mile. Silver Max will be a major threat to Wise Dan. Another threat that
may not be as strong going into the race is Obviously he is coming into
the race with a loss in the City Of Hope Mile. Another threat could be
Jeranimo. The connections ran him on the poly in the Pacific Classic and
then on dirt in the Awesome Again which the field was demolished by
Mucho Macho Man. My pick would be Silver Max only because Dale Romans
always has his horses ready for these big races and look what happend
last year with Little Mike in the Turf.
Turf
Little Mike
has found his old form and that old form includes a Breeders Cup win.
Little Mike will be coming into the race on a win in the Joe Hirsch at
Belmont going 1 1/2 (mile and one half). A "Big" competitor to Little
Mike is Big Blue Kitten. Big Blue Kitten is going to be coming into the
race with a second in the Joe Hirsch. Another big threat could be Point
of Entry he isn't 100% in but he is training off a 5 month layoff. And
one more could be The Fugue. The Fugue has done everything she has been
asked for beating the boys and girls but can she handle the long trip
and the special turf course at Santa Anita. But again i would think it
would be either Little Mike or Point of Entry only because Shug &
Dale know how to get their big horses ready for big races.
Turf Sprint
Mizdirection
a filly in the sprint well this year I think she can get beat Points
offthebench is my pick and last year's race wasn't as deep as this
year's. Probables include Caracortado, Capo Bastone, Chips all in, and
Boat Trip.
Sprint
Trinniberg
hasn't fired the same way since the Breeder's Cup last year. He was 2nd
in the Smilie and a Breeders Cup champ should've romped in that race
against that field. I think he has big competition ahead of him IF they
pay the entry fee to get him into the race. Private Zone is my pick the
way he held off Justin Phillip shown that he is a good horse. On the
other hand a big threat to Trinniberg and Private Zone is Justin Phillip
he is coming into the race with a second in the Vosburgh behind Private
Zone.
